Staff Veterinarian Houston SPCA seeks experienced, energetic Texas-licensed DVM to join three doctor team. We provide an interesting and varied caseload. Heavy surgery, evaluation and treatment of animals from cruelty cases and support of overall health program for shelter animals. Accounting/Payroll Administrator The Houston SPCA seeks an Accounting/Payroll Administrator to manage bi-weekly payroll including tracking of time and attendance and accrual of vacation/paid time off benefit. The role is also responsible for processing the organization’s accounts receivables/accounts payables and daily reconciliation of revenue from adoptions, admissions and donations. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3-5 years of experience, preferably in a retail environment. Individual must be able to manage multiple priorities, be customer service oriented and extremely detail oriented. Although previous experience in an animal welfare environment is not required, the individual must support the Houston SPCA’s mission to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and free them from suffering, abuse and exploitation. Manager The Houston SPCA is seeking candidates for a management position in support of its mission to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and free them from suffering, abuse and exploitation. Successful candidates will have experience managing in a fast paced, customer driven environment. Position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, lead, develop and motivate a diverse staff, build teams and resolve conflict. Strong computer skills, phone skills, organizational skills and time management are a must. Previous experience working in the animal welfare field desired, but not required. Clinic Technician We are seeking an experienced technician for our admissions department. This position requires the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with the general public, give vaccinations, draw blood, administer medications and perform general physical examinations on all animals entering our facility. Euthanasia is a required part of the job and applicants will need to be euthanasia certified within four months of hire. The position will also require general cleaning and organization. E-Communications Manager The Houston SPCA is seeking candidates for the E-Communications Manager position. The focus of this position is to oversee all electronic communications that support the Houston SPCA’s strategic goals and strengthen outreach efforts. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years experience in web administration, e-communications, online advertising, marketing, promotion, PR or similar field required. Knowledge of the Convio Platform, including TeamRaiser function required as well as functional knowledge of HTML/CSS and web analytic platforms required.
Grant Writer The Houston SPCA is seeking candidates for the position of Grant Writer. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Communication and Development, this successful candidate facilitates research and development, writes, reviews, and edits departmental and/or institutional grant proposals; conducts basic research for potential funding sources and maintains databases; supports staff and leadership team in developing proposals.

Animal Rescue Technician Join a dedicated team of professionals who assist the community by responding to calls regarding injured and distressed animals. The Houston SPCA is the only agency in our area providing an injured animal rescue service 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Candidates must be comfortable handling animals, self motivated and dependable, have a good driving record, be able to work varied shift schedules (weekends and nights included), work in a variety of environmental conditions and be prepared to work as part of a team where other duties may be assigned. $12/hour. Foster Care Coordinator The Houston SPCA is seeking candidates for the Foster Care Coordinator position. The primary goal of the foster care program is to find temporary homes for animals that are not yet eligible for adoption due to injury, illness or other special needs. The Foster Care Coordinator will work with existing partners, such as rescue groups and current Houston SPCA volunteers to make successful temporary placements. The Foster Care Coordinator will also cultivate new relationships with individuals and organizations to ensure that placements will be available for any animal in need.
Since the Foster Care coordinator will have complete program oversight, to include reporting statistics and recruitment and management of volunteer staff, excellent relationship management and customer service skills are key. Individuals must be detail oriented, able to manage multiple priorities and manage conflict. Strong computer skills, phone skills, organizational skills and time management are a must. Client Care Team Member Will provide customer service support to community members interested in adoptions or needing general information on the services provided by the Houston SPCA.
