Animal Care Team Leader Experienced animal care team members needed for team lead positions. Must have prior experience in animal care—shelter or veterinary preferred. Team lead positions assist the Animal Care Manager in directing staff, overseeing cleanliness and disinfection of all animal areas, stocking supplies and food, equipment maintenance and customer service throughout the adoption process. $10.00 per hour. Surgical Technician Manager Experienced veterinary technician needed to manage the surgery department at the Houston SPCA. Duties include all aspects of personnel management for a team of surgical technicians and animal care team members; ordering medical supplies for all areas of the shelter; monthly surgical statistics; maintenance and repair of all surgical and radiology equipment; oversee quality of nursing care for all surgical and medical cases; oversee cleanliness and disinfection of all surgical and treatment areas. Preference given to those with prior management experience and Registered Veterinary Technicians. Experience with equine and large animals a plus. Salary DOE. Surgery Technician We are seeking an experienced technician for our surgery department. This position requires ability to perform IV, IM and SC injections, ability to intubate all sizes of animals, knowledge of general anesthesia techniques and safety, animal handling and restraint, and basic knowledge of surgery and recovery. The position will also require general cleaning and organization as well as cleaning, autoclaving and wrapping instruments and packs. Call Center Full or part-time positions available working multi-line call center, must be available to work weekends. Must have strong customer service skills and the ability to mutli-task. Position includes forwarding calls to the appropriate person, taking cruelty investigation reports, alerting rescue drivers to injured animals reports, maintaining contact with staff members in the field, scheduling appointments and other duties. Clinic Technician We are seeking an experienced technician for our admissions department. This position requires the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with the general public, give vaccinations, draw blood, administer medications and perform general physical examinations on all animals entering our facility. Euthanasia is a required part of the job and applicants will need to be euthanasia certified within four months of hire. The position will also require general cleaning and organization. Client Care Full or part-time positions available working in adoptions center. Strong customer service skills, friendly demeanor and ability to multi-task are required. Coordinator Behavior Services Experienced Animal Behaviorist needed to coordinate all of the behavior services at the HSPCA. Services include basic obedience and socialization classes, private behavior consultations, behavior evaluations of shelter animals, consults with adopters and intervention for individuals admitting animals for behavior problems, phone and e-mail response, staff training on animal behavior and handling, coordinating and training behavior interns and volunteers, and managing behavior statistics. This department is supported by a strong team of behavior volunteers and interns, many of whom are certified and conduct training classes and in-shelter evaluations. Applicant must be CPDT and IABC certified or eligible and preference will be given to those with a four year degree in animal behavior.
