Permanent Full-Time Position

The Houston SPCA seeks an experienced, energetic Texas-licensed DVM to lead our team of veterinarians. We provide an interesting and varied caseload. Daily responsibilities include surgery, evaluation and treatment of animals from cruelty cases or other emergencies and support of the overall health of shelter animals. The Houston SPCA is a not-for-profit corporation. Our facility employs seven full-time veterinarians and is equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, dental machine and x-ray and in-house laboratory equipment. Plans are also in place for the addition of a state-of-the-art hospital expansion. The Medical Director serves on the management team to assist in decisions regarding shelter procedures and policies relating to veterinary medicine. This individual will also assist in hiring and training our other six Staff Veterinarian positions. Additional responsibilities include oversight and grading of 4th-year veterinary students, involvement in cruelty cases and general quality control of our veterinary services procedures.

Applicant must have at least 5 years previous experience as a practicing veterinarian and have graduated from a college or university accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Texas.
