THE HOUSTON SPCA INTRODUCES THE ADOPTION STIMULUS PACKAGE

ALL canine, feline and rabbit adoptions will be generously underwritten and all approved adopters can take home their furry companion at no charge in celebration of The 15th Annual Houston SPCA Pet Telethon.

On Saturday August 29, 2009, from 10am to 8pm, the Houston SPCA is inviting the residents of the greater Houston area who are interested in adding a forever friend to their family to take advantage of the “Houston SPCA Adoption Stimulus Package #2!” The program proved so successful last year that once again, ALL canine, feline and rabbit adoptions will be generously underwritten and all approved adopters can take home their furry companion at no charge in celebration of The 15th Annual Houston SPCA Pet Telethon. Families will be carefully screened and limited to the adoption of one dog, one rabbit and no more than two cats or kittens.

The 15th Annual Houston SPCA Pet Telethon will be held on Saturday, August 29, from 3-8 p.m. and will broadcast “live” from the shelter on Channel 39 (KIAH-TV). Our goal during this 5-hour event is to place every adorable, adoptable homeless canine, feline and rabbit at the Houston SPCA into a new and loving permanent responsible home. In addition to saving innocent lives, the Houston SPCA Pet Telethon draws a host of local celebrities who come together to graciously volunteer their time and talent to help all animals in need. The Houston SPCA Pet Telethon is guaranteed to entertain viewers with heartwarming stories of adoptions and dramatic rescues and features adorable, adoptable pets every hour.

In the last fifteen years, this spectacular event has generated more than 3 million dollars, directly saving the lives of tens of thousands of homeless, neglected, abused, injured and ill animals right here in our community. Last year, the Houston SPCA provided services for over 100,000 animals in need and last year investigated nearly 15,000 cases of abuse, cruelty and neglect. All the money raised during the Houston SPCA Pet Telethon remains in the community, for the community. The Houston SPCA is a private, non-profit, donor-funded organization that does not receive any funding from the government, United Way, or national animal organizations.
